NnK: Update [Jul02]

Day 590, 14:01 Published in Japan Japan by Nihon no Koe

Hello honourable citizens of Japan!
This Public Relations office, Nihon no Koe (Voice of Japan), handles the relay of information from the Japanese government, directly to you.

Government News

Upcoming Presidential Elections
They're here on the 5th, and so far, there are only 2 candidates. Kokawayoshi Makoto is running again, hoping to make this his 3rd term in a row. Origineel.NL of the Tequila fitness Club, a previous President of Japan is also running. Look out for each campaign article and consider your vote with care!
Good luck to both!

Congress

Japan Election Commission
A recent donation of 110 JPY to the JEC, authorised by the majority of congress, means that the JEC will be more able to help with congress elections later this month. However, there is still some discussion surrounding the JEC and it's policies. Join in: http://nipponblog.net/forum/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=264&p=3339p3339

Military budget / funding
The latest vote to try and give the JIA 25 gold/month has failed. The main reason for this was the wording of the proposal. Many didn't believe that training abroad is very cost effective and that the Army should train on home soil. Geno Garon, Defense Secretary, also rose the issue of equal training, stating "I am in agreement that the WHOLE of the army should be EQUALLY funded... We do not provide a chosen few with free training when the rest of those who have faithfully volunteered are unrewarded for their diligence. The army is equal-opportunity, and equal-training. I see no point in having it otherwise."
Another vote will open soon. Congressmen: be sure to add your vote.

Business

Grain Union
There is currently some discussion about the creation of a grain union that aims to prevent competition that drives some companies out of business. The hope is to stabalise the grain market and create an environment where all companies win.

Exchange Rate and the Monetary Market
There's been some recent discussion about the exchange rate and whether it should be fixed, lowered, raised, etc. The dicussion is quite broad and if you want a say, you can comment here: http://nipponblog.net/forum/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=378

South Korean Affairs

Some South Korean Officials have set up a South Korean forum for the sole purpose of reorganizing the South Korean population.

Culture

A possible interesting addition of Japanese culture has gained some attention recently. Reiji Mitsurugi worked hard on detailing the particulars of a religious group that will hopefully add some spice and vibrance to Japan. You can read more about it, comment and add your opinion here: http://nipponblog.net/forum/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=369
