The Revolutionary Society - Presidential Debate

Good morning Party Members and the Public!

TRS has three PP candidates this month, Spygon, Garth and Mr Woldy. To give you an idea of how they think and what they want to do, we sent a short set of questions to each of them, they were:

If elected as leader, what are your top 3 priorities?

What separates you from the other candidates?

What policy ideas do you wish to implement most?

How would you approach elections?

The questions were sent out yesterday, so we will keep this article updated as the answers come in.

The Answers

Spygon

If elected as leader, what are your top 3 priorities?

Priorities for are pretty straight forward. Openness and honesty will always be high on my list. We are a party that is a collection of people from a wide range of experiences, history and time with the game. I want the party to be open to all ideas and to be a platform where everybody can give their unique idea's and view points that will be listened to and discussed freely.

Another High Priority is activity I feel a lot of other parties in the euk only become active one time a month around the CP elections. I don't feel this is good for the public. A party should be active at all times. Challenging the status quo and thinking of ways to improve the euk for everybody as they appear. A party should be fully entrenched in all parts of the euk and not just to remind you they exist. This where I feel the The Revolutionary Society should be.

My last high Priority is to be credible opposition. I am not the only person who see the divide in the euk but I don't always feel this is a bad thing. I hope everybody is looking for the ways to make the euk better. But people have different ideas of what a better euk should look like. Ofc this is the case if we all agreed on everything this game and the world would become very boring very quickly. So The Revolutionary Society need to be different, needs to think different and as said earlier challenge to status quo. But we need our opposition to make sense we need to truly look over and think through our challenges. So that when they reach the euk stage they can stand to larger criticism of the euk. The criticism is a good thing as good criticism will give new perspectives and maybe even improve the original idea. But it the idea should be a good foundation for the working on.

What separates you from the other candidates?

Lets to be honest in the The Revolutionary Society I am more the extreme candidate. I am the one who plays the devils advocate and pushes the more extreme ideals. In some places I am called a hero, others have called me a rebel, anarchist or similar a traitor. Due to this I put myself up every month to show the TRS that there are always options and if choose me I don't sugar coat things. I make things happen.

What policy ideas do you wish to implement most?

I want to push through making this game exciting again in the euk. I want us to be more "out in the world" people instantly go to war. But that isn't always the case. Alliances and long lasting conversations with other countries. Trying to return the euk back to a respected country in the eworld. Not an after thought or a farming factory that gets ignored.

How would you approach elections?

Pretty much listen to what people want as said in my 3rd priority comment. We need to show the euk there is an opposition and show why we think this way. We need to challenge the status quo and show that there is still life and opportunities in the euk. We need to approach elections honestly and openly show what we here at The Revolutionary Society are trying to do. We want to make the euk exciting and enjoy our time with the game. So we need to be the credible opposition we show all the time.

Garth Lidlington

If elected as leader, what are your top 3 priorities?

My number one priority will always been party engagement. I love looking at ways to make the game more socially engaging for all members. Number 2 is recruitment, we have a strong foundation with a plethora of positive ideas. With more members we can turn innovate ideas into reality. Number 3 is winning the country president election. I have no doubt Huey has had some positive output during his term, but respectfully I think it’s time to let someone new take their turn. You may suggest priority three should be higher, but I believe with achieving the first two priorities, the third will come to us naturally.

What separates you from the other candidates?

I believe in change, I want to use this and drive the party, and in turn the country, into something great. I believe I also have the skill set to do just that. With numerous MoD, vCP and MoHA positions under my belt I can accommodate for all.

What policy ideas do you wish to implement most?

My main policy would be community building. Whether people like to admit it or not, the game is not just about clicking deploy every day. You can open yourself up to much more by trying new things and playing the game your way. I would like to introduce a TRS community marketplace for members to use whether it be for trade offers, bartering or jobs. This is something I would like to see happen regardless of the result, mind.

How would you approach elections?

My approach has always been to communicate our values to the country clearly and effectively through use of articles and national feed shouts. I think we need to kick it up another notch for CP elections and communicate more effectively with all eUK citizens. Structured shouts, articles and messages will be a great way to achieve this.

Mr Woldy

If elected as leader, what are your top 3 priorities?

I’d say firstly to support as many members as possible in doing whatever they want to do in eRep, whether it’s politics, fighting, starting coops, writing articles, getting involved in more things - whatever. New players definitely need people standing up for them these days and I want to see us doing that.

Secondly, I’d like to promote more conversations between our Congresspeople and do some deeper thinking about how we can keep shifting the eUK towards a politically dynamic and engaged society, and especially one in which the votes of Congress and the public are not taken for granted.

My third priority would be to make sure we stay the best and most active party in the eUK, full of games and idle entertainments and fostering a welcoming environment for people.

What separates you from the other candidates?

That’s difficult! They’re both brilliant and add a lot to the rich tapestry that is TRS. If I had to pick something it would probably be my journalism. Garth gives us good news and sometimes I give us the bad news - but I am reliably told it is delivered with dramatic flair! My hope is that it adds to a culture of accountability and questioning that can challenge outdated and dodgy practices - whilst (most importantly) reminds the eUK that it can choose to do things differently.

What policy ideas do you wish to implement most?

We have policies coming out of ears so one thing I’d like to establish is almost a policy on policies - to have a living document somewhere that can hold all of the current ideas and changes we want to pursue either in Government or in Congress, to help communicate them to our members and the public. And ideally, to be able to communicate them in as few words as possible (this is not necessarily a strength of mine!).

How would you approach elections?

I’d like to really build enthusiasm about our offering so we know our members are itching to vote for us. We know there’s been some election shenanigans including, most recently, message blocks being applied to our players - so we might have to savvy up and think about how we can get our message across throughout the whole PP term rather than just around election times, so people really know what we stand for on election days.

Happy voting everyone, hopefully you have found this useful and informative. Remember to vote and keep an eye out on the elections page or Keith’s update article to follow the results!
