Custer for February PotUS
George Armstrong Custer
well, second place, anyways...
Dateline: Friday, February 2 (Day 5918 )
Location: Socialist Freedom Party HQ
Running for Second Place
So what's the big deal, huh?
I've got an art gig all day Friday and I'm packing for that tonight, so I sought AI assistance in writing a quick announcement article.
I'm back with the SFP again this week, and we're running for second place.
...
I am excited to announce that I am running for eUS CP in the upcoming PotUS election. While I understand that winning the election is not a realistic goal, I am determined to secure second place, soundly surpassing other losing candidates.
The mechanics of the game play a significant role in this scenario. In case the elected President is unable to complete their term, the runner up assumes the Presidency, making it crucial to ensure my place as the second candidate.
Winning the election is not my objective. But by securing second place, I can not only contribute to the political dynamics of the game but also position myself for potential future opportunities. Also, a strong second place finish serves notice that the establishment is not necessarily secure.
To achieve second place, I am committed to actively campaigning, reaching out to players, and offering my platform and ideas. I believe in the importance of representing a diverse range of perspectives and ensuring that all players have a voice in the game's political landscape.
While we undoubtedly will not win the coveted title of President, running for second place is a valuable chance to contribute to the game, build relationships with other players, and continue to develop my skills as a politician. I am excited to embark on this journey and eagerly await the election results.
...
yep, that's about it. I've played some with AI for writing and images, and I must say I am not impressed. that took enough editing that I m ight as well have thought up my own three paragraphs of drivvel.
I'll throw something more substantive on Saturday.
loaded for bear, kinda overpacked for a shared booth.

actually, it's a bullshit reason I've clung to for years.
the closest thing we ever had happen was when Emerick went to jail, obviously unable to log in and do President things. at the time the US President played a big role in the shape of the world, so bizarre as he was it was crazy to lose him. like our RL Presidents Wilson and Reagan, when the President became unable their wives and their people stepped in and did the Presidenting through the term.
a crazy person winning second place then ascending to the Presidency would be immediately Impeached and whatever push button damage he did would be contained.
a not-crazy, even political opponent but not National Security dangerous person in that position would go along with the President's people without kicking much.
so.. even if The Chosen One is hit by a bus, Presidential continuity is assured, and the importance of who got second place just. doesn't. matter.
...
so what is second place?
is it everyone who's not gonna win anyways doing some sort of flex thing? yeah, there's that. not gonna lie.
but in all cases it's about kicking against the establishment.. whether it's Trite of the Tinfoil Penguins or a rival Top Party, the common objective is to drain off some Chosen One votes so it's not a runaway, and show "them" that we're not all falling in lockstep with them. yeah, and then the ego thing.
...
so why Custer, and it's gonna take some doing to get a lot of you to vote SFP.. we all like to vote with our own Party, but ya know, we don't have to. and voting is anonymous.
in the race to send a clear message, the SFP and Custer represent a lot of you.. if you know (and we all do) how this election is gonna go anyways, and you know there's no good end in putting up a public fuss but still got that nagging feeling about supporting the regime...
yeah, that's why voting booths got curtains.
that's why we used to have RL "third Party" candidates like Ross Perot (pictured).
to send a message.
...
are we there yet? I gotta pee.
I have hated Ross Perrot for a whole lot of years. He was on the verge of taking it all and took an FN dive...
from dickapedia:
"Although he failed to carry a single state in either election, both campaigns were the second and third strongest presidential showings by a third party or independent candidate in U.S. history."
1992 and 96 against Clinton.. The Chosen One. a foregone conclusion. who the fuck can win against that?
but I digress...
Legend says is even more expensive to get 2nd place than 1st ... because you have to pay people ... to not vote for you!
Be ready man ... I'll vote for you!
this -- "in the race to send a clear message, the SFP and Custer represent a lot of you"
VOTE 🙂
well, you need to accept your nominations first
I'm in, baby, let's rock this thing..!
