Vote for Leroy in Rhode Island and other things

Day 1,162, 01:48 Published in USA USA by Leroy Combs

Well it's that time of the month - Congressional Elections. I hope to get reelected to congress from Rhode Island. I hope to continue to press for a meaningful budget. I hope to help with the development of performance measures for some of our budget lines. I believe that throwing money at something and not being able to measure performance can lead to a waste of money.

Another issue I want to focus on if re-elected is tax evasion. I want to limit this as much as possible within the game mechanic available to us. If our tax rates are the best we can do then they should be applied to every one, not just the youngest players in the game. I also want to increase the Arm America program to get new players steered toward an organized military/milita. By doing this we can continue to increase the amount of damage the eUS can do and help new players increase their interest in this game. I would like to see it get new players to look at joining a military/milita unit if possible as soon as possible. This helps our country out in the long run.

Enough about what I want to work on in congress, on to a subject that has troubled me. Recently a sitting congressman published an article basically taking a shot at several potential congressmen running in this election. I do not support this type of campaigning. Even worse the response has been highly disturbing. I have been around the eUS for my entire eLife except for deployments. There does seem to be a growing sense of entitlement from some members based on IRC or Forum activity and this article has put it up for full display. I fully expect the sitting congressman that wrote the article to get beat. Why? People I once respected are actively working to buy votes to defeat him. You heard me right. Highly respected members of our community are going to buy as many votes as possible to get this congressman beaten. Did these members take their case to the public? No. They feel entitled to whatever they want to do no matter what the public thinks. There in lies the problem as I see it. If I set out to do something I try to build a consensus or at least a majority opinion for the position I've taken. These few "elite" players feel whatever they do doesn't matter to the community at large. Well I say screw them, they know better thank that. A vote for me is a vote to put an end to this attitude. Thank you.
