[Emerick/Combs ‘11] Proud to Serve

Several days ago Emerick announced his candidacy for PotUS and I have the honor of being able to run alongside him as his Vice President. This is something I’ve been offered several times in the past but have never been compelled to accept until now. I’ve witnessed an Emerick presidency up close before, and it’s far past time for another.

I’ve been around a long time, but many of you may not know who I am or what I’ve done in this game, so I would like to take some time to lay that out and possibly shed some light as to why Emerick had entrusted me with being the #2 in his administration.



My History

I got my start in eRepublik in the state of Maryland and soon moved to my RL home of Oklahoma where I served as a Mayor twice (Beta days) before serving two terms in Congress. Before the end of Beta, I turned a single wood company into five companies and had found one of my favorite aspects of eRep, economics. My start in Congress started me down a path that led to helping form the eUS CIA, an organization I went on to lead for some time.

With the implementation of V1, I continued to upgrade my companies and build my empire into the 30 companies I own today. Currently, I am one of the largest employers of young players in the eUS because I only hire skill 1 workers and I always strive to speak with them and help them learn the game. Mentoring new citizens in my companies has been one of the most rewarding long term experiences I’ve had in this game.

Long ago I also helped found and lead the Airborne, a branch of the military that is designed to be a specialized force that can deploy rapidly to foreign wars and joint operations. I am immensely proud of my time serving in the military and my service there has certainly shaped my experience in this game.



Why Emerick?

I became acquainted with Emerick during the time I served as a member of the Joint Chiefs of Staff and CIA. This was also around the time of WW3. He impressed me with his ability to motivate the country and get the best out of the players we have here. Between his drive and public relations flair and my practical knowledge of game mechanics and the economic module, I believe we make a well balanced team to lead this country.

What I would like to accomplish this month

First, I would like to see our country focus more on helping its newest members to succeed and prosper, starting with increased funding to the Department of Interior. This department, to be led again next month by eRep’s favorite newlyweds CRoy and jerseygirldani, helps to feed many of our youngest players, mentor them, and retain them. This is key to building our country and beginning to bring new blood into our government months down the line.

Second, I would like to take a comprehensive look at our country’s tax structure. While this may sound cliché, it is something that needs to be seriously considered since we still have nearly the highest income tax rate of any country in the game, and certainly the highest of any country our size. I would like to explore what we can do to lighten this tax burden and see what I can do personally to ensure that we are spending out tax dollars as efficiently as possible. Proper commune and company management in the military and militia is one way we can save thousands of dollars each month and possibly pave way for a decreased in the overall tax rate.
